The Story

As a leader in home decorating retailing, Bed Bath & Beyond has decided to expand its services to include additional planning and buying options for its customers. It wants to make it easier for people to find inspiring room design ideas and create “the look” they’re interested in in their own home.


The challenge

In a recent market research study regarding home decorating, participants cited that they found it difficult and overly time consuming to decorate their homes that replicate styles they had seen elsewhere. Others felt they needed more advice about how to decorate within a budget.


The Goal

  • To create a website that will help people plan and purchase the items they need for their decorating projects.
  • To attract customers to spend more of their decorating budget


My Role

I was part of the team and responsible for user research, wireframe, prototyping, and visual design. These are then presented to the client through on-site visits and presentations.


The Design Process

Strategy Start with Research

All good strategy start with research. Why? Because we don’t know everything there is to know about any give problem, or industry, or product, or the people that we’ve hopefully trying to reach.

I was using user research by ask question such as, what they expect to do? Why that matters to them? What goals they have? What other tools they use? And after we gather the data, we develop personas.



Competitive Analysis

Identifying your competitors and evaluating their strategies to determine their strengths and weaknesses relative to those of your own product or service. 

A competitive analysis is a critical part of our company marketing plan. With this evaluation, I can establish what makes our product or service unique--and therefore what attributes I play up in order to attract your target market.

Evaluate our competitors by placing them in strategic groups according to how directly they compete for a share of the customer's dollar. For each competitor or strategic group, I list their product or service, its profitability, growth pattern, marketing objectives and assumptions, current and past strategies, organizational and cost structure, strengths and weaknesses, and size (in sales) of the competitor's business.

The Outcome

I paid thorough attention to establishing a strong and cohesive visual identity for The Home Furnishing and provide a menu for the customers to buy products from inspiration and Ideas by Rooms, Styles, Colors and more
